DRIVE SMART Weld County
Meeting 2 16 2010
 
Attendance:  Kristi Helzer, Sue Helfrich, Stacey Chase, Jennifer Fick, Lisa Carpenter, Randy Carter, Travis Polk, Kelly Imus, Greg Woods, and Duane Lewis.
 
·         DRIVE SMART Weld County purchased a new computer that will be used at all upcoming Parent of Teen Driver’s Classes and PARTY Programs. Marjorie loaded and tested all the videos that are currently being used. Randy Carter plans to do a dry run of all videos prior to our next event to ensure everything on the new computer is working.
 
·         DRIVE SMART currently has $200 left of our CDOT grant for driver’s education scholarships. 
 
·         NCMC (North Colorado Medical Center) is considering certifying volunteers from the Monfort Birthing Center to become car seat technicians. Travis Polk, Trauma Outreach Coordinator, will follow up with the coalition as more information becomes available.
 
·         DRIVE SMART will be conducting a second seatbelt check point at Frontier Academy in the near future to compare seat belt usage rates post PARTY program. The coalition will also conduct a seat belt check point this spring at either Weld Central High School or Highland High School.
 
·         DRIVE SMART will have a booth and two crashed cars at the upcoming March 3rd City of Greeley, City of Evans and Weld County employee health fair. Upcoming Parent of Teen Driver’s Classes will be promoted and a seat belt pledge drive will be conducted at our table. 
 
·         THAT (the Teen Health Alliance of Today) will be hosting a Underage Drinking Town Hall meeting at Zoe’s Café on April 10th from 7:00pm-10:00pm. The event will include speakers from the Denver Nuggets addressing the consequences of underage drinking, a crash survivor telling her story and a high school battle of the bands competition. THAT is organizing the event with support from the Weld County Health Department and North Range Behavioral Health’s Prevention Partnership.
 
·         Travis Polk from the North Colorado Medical Center is currently working on renewing DRIVE SMART Weld County’s PARTY contract. The contract agreement is currently in negotiation.
 
·         Kristi Helzer was appointed by the coalition as the Media Relations Coordinator and Stacey Chase from Weld County Paramedics was appointed as DRIVE SMART Weld County’s Chairperson. Kelly Imus will continue as the coalition’s secretary and Sue Helfrich will remain the treasurer.
 
·         Valley High School in Gilcrest will be participating in the Every 15 Minutes program on April 20th and 21st. DRIVE SMART Weld County will become an active supporter or Every 15 Minutes for any school in Weld County wishing to host the program. Randy Carter, Lisa Carpenter and Jennifer Foy will all be involved with Valley High School’s upcoming program. Randy Carter would like a link to Every 15 Minutes added to DRIVE SMART’s website. Erie and Frederick may host an Every 15 Minutes program next year.
 
·         The coalition would like to have a digital streamline of our PARTY programs added to our website as well as a looping power point developed to run at health fairs and safety events that the coalition is involved in. 
 
·         Kristi Helzer requested that Kelly and Marjorie update the DRIVE SMART promotional power point presentation with new data summarizing our 2008/2009 programs. Kelly and Marjorie agreed to work on this as time allows. 
 
·         Next DRIVE SMART Coalition meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 16th at 8:00am
